Our story started in Detroit in 1852 when Sidney Davy Miller opened a solo law practice on Jefferson Avenue, a rapidly growing area of a rapidly growing city.
He may never have dreamed that more than 170 years later, his firm would be the oldest and one of the largest law firms in Michigan, with more than 200 attorneys in 19 offices and affiliated locations in North America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Some of the principles that made the firm prosperous then have likewise been essential to our success—an unwavering emphasis on the client, hard work, providing excellent legal services and business solutions at a fair price, and plain old tenacity to get the job done.
Sidney Davy Miller knew what we know today: Clients don’t come to us with the easy questions. They come to us for our skills and foresight, our ability to see around the corner, to bring people together and to help them leverage opportunities they might not have otherwise seen.
We engage the best people, best practices and deliver the best possible results. We know our clients' businesses, organizations and industries and look out for their best interests. Together, we build businesses, communities and prosperity.
