Mark Maki is a seasoned attorney and technologist with deep expertise in Intellectual Property (IP), technology, and product development. As an active member of Miller Canfield's IP, AI, and Cyber/Data Privacy Groups, Mark provides nuanced guidance in IP, ideation, product development, marketing, branding, risk management, and strategic visioning. Mark has been recognized for his ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the corporate structure.

Mark has a sophisticated understanding of international IP law, including patent, trademark, and copyright systems. His experience includes representing a full range of domestic, multinational, and foreign clients, including individuals, startups, large corporations, and universities. He excels in coordinating global IP protection and enforcement strategies for patent and trademark portfolios across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa.

His legal expertise encompasses patent prosecution and enforcement; complex patentability and infringement opinions; technology patent searches; data privacy; licensing; development agreements; copyrights; trademark selection, clearance, registration, and enforcement; acquisitions and due diligence; transfer and use agreements; and litigation support. Mark is dedicated to expanding his proficiencies in AI and cybersecurity through self-directed learning and advanced coursework.

Mark’s extensive technical expertise encompasses a diverse range of industries and technologies. His experience includes the automotive sector, covering engines, EV technologies, turbochargers, fuel pumps, brakes, wipers, and vehicle modeling software; digital technologies such as AI and computer software, applications, and hardware; mechanical devices; industrial, manufacturing, and packaging systems; pumps, compressors, and mechanical seals; medical devices; electronics; motors and controls; agricultural implements; furniture; high-energy plasma generation and material processing systems; power systems; telecommunications; and solar energy systems.
