Miller Canfield Lawyers Named IP Stars for 2015
Miller Canfield announces that four of its intellectual property lawyers have been recognized as “2015 IP Stars” by Managing Intellectual Property magazine.
The four attorneys honored by the publication are:
- A. Michael Palizzi, Principal and Intellectual Property Group Leader (Detroit): With more than 20 years of experience, Mike Palizzi specializes in intellectual property litigation and counseling. He has handled numerous patent and trademark infringement, counterfeiting and trade secret disputes. He also regularly counsels clients on various intellectual property matters, including trademark procurement and protection, licensing, brand management, trade secret protection, and the implementation of anti-counterfeiting measures.
- Robin W. Asher, Principal and Deputy Intellectual Property Group Leader (Detroit): Robin Asher focuses on patent, trademark, copyright and technology transfer matters, as well as intellectual property litigation. His experience includes administration, management and prosecution of patent portfolios for several Fortune 500 companies; and advising in-house counsel, company management and engineers. He is also experienced in preparation and analysis of patentability, validity and infringement searches and opinions; preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications; negotiation of license agreements and technology assignments; and litigation counseling.
- Mark L. Maki, Principal (Kalamazoo): Mark Maki has experience in the worldwide protection of intellectual property including patents, trademarks, and copyrights, coordinating I.P. protection for clients' global operations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Asia Pacific. His experience includes preparation and prosecution of patents; preparing complex patentability and infringement opinions; trademark/service mark selection, registration and enforcement; evaluation of computer/Internet issues and prosecution of software patents; licensing and related contracts; and litigation support.
- Jeffrey M. Drake, Principal (Chicago): Jeffrey Drake focuses his practice on the procurement and enforcement of patents, copyrights, trademarks and other forms of intellectual property, and litigates patent matters for a wide variety of clients in federal courts across the country. He has experience in many different technologies and industries, including software, pharmaceutical compositions, animal health products, power tools, medical devices, telecommunications, sports equipment, pressure seal mailers, motorcycles, and automobile aftermarket collision replacement products.
Miller Canfield’s Intellectual Property Group is also “highly recommended” by the magazine. The group’s attorneys have the technical, legal and business backgrounds to help domestic and international businesses and entrepreneurs, individual inventors, start-up enterprises and academic institutions obtain, protect, enforce and license their IP assets.
