Amanda is an accomplished trial attorney with nearly 30 years of experience handling complex litigation, including class actions, shareholder derivative claims, product liability cases, real estate disputes, and a broad range of other commercial and business matters. She has successfully defended national and regional law firms against professional liability and business tort claims.

Amanda's practice spans both public and private sector clients, covering commercial disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference, covenants not to compete, supplier agreements, and other business issues. Amanda has extensive experience prosecuting and defending shareholder derivative and direct shareholder actions, as well as representing directors and officers in cases involving federal securities and state laws. She also advises policyholders in disputes with insurers, both in active litigation and negotiations, addressing issues such as liability coverage triggered by underlying litigation, long-term conduct or wrongdoing allegations.

Amanda’s real estate litigation experience includes representing individuals, companies, and public entities in disputes related to eminent domain, allegations of improper taking, tax incremental financing projects, and foreclosures. She also has a deep background in defending against class action claims involving securities laws, TCPA, state and federal consumer protection statutes, breach of warranty, contract disputes, state and federal antitrust matters, and mortgage recording and UCC-1 statutory causes of action. She was engaged by a multinational corporation as an expert on U.S. class action procedures in Canadian litigation.

Beyond trials, Amanda has represented public and private clients in administrative proceedings and arbitration, as well as conducted investigations into complex legal and compliance matters, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations and potential qui tam claims. She led a high-profile investigation into a Fortune 500 company’s handling of $1.1 billion in synthetic securities transactions.

Representative Matters

In 2020, Amanda led a team which successfully challenging the constitutionality of a controversial Ohio law that allowed residents of certain communities to more easily change their assigned school district despite concerns about racial segregation and financial disparities among affected students. Amanda currently represents plaintiff bondholders in the foreclosure and receivership of a hotel and convention center valued at over $42 million. Recently, Amanda secured a highly favorable outcome for Ohio’s ninth largest county in a dispute with a school district challenging the county’s resolutions implementing tax incremental financing districts. The result was a win-win for all parties, generating millions in additional infrastructure funding.
