Paul Kako is an associate attorney in Miller Canfield's Real Estate Group. He previously served as Deputy General Counsel for the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, where he managed real estate development and real estate finance transactions for various mixed-use and commercial developments. Paul has extensive experience in real estate financing matters on loans varying in size from $200,000 to $15,000,000.

Paul's experience on these matters includes the drafting and negotiation of various financing documents as well as being involved on all matters of a financing transaction from loan origination, closing, and workouts and modifications. Paul is also experienced at drafting and negotiating development agreements for the sale of properties and their subsequent development, as well as drafting professional services agreements, lease agreements, right-of-entry agreements, and letters of intent. During his tenure at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, Paul represented numerous public entities managed by the DEGC and has had significant exposure to matters related to economic development, brownfield incentives, and tax increment financing.
