Justyna Regan Appointed to Chair Cyber Law/Data Privacy Committee
Miller Canfield Senior Attorney Justyna Regan, PhD, has been appointed to serve a one-year term as chair of the Chicago Bar Association Cyber Law and Data Privacy Committee.
Licensed in Illinois and Poland, Regan’s practice focuses on European, U.S. and multinational business law and intellectual property law, particularly software licensing. She has built an international reputation in the area of cross-border defamation and data privacy. She is a member of Miller Canfield’s Data Privacy Team, where she handles matters involving transfer of data from the E.U. to the U.S.
Regan has served as an expert witness on Polish law and she was appointed a Special Master in a United States Federal Court case that involved cross-border discovery.
During her academic career, Regan has published multiple articles and books in Polish, English and Spanish on international aspects of rights of personality, including data privacy. A former Fulbright scholar (Chicago-Kent College of Law), she holds a PhD in law, and habitation (a postdoctoral European academic title).
The Chicago Bar Association Cyber Law and Data Privacy Committee tracks and studies legal developments related to information technology, Internet privacy and data security, focusing on issues such as ethical issues, computer crimes, Internet regulation, data privacy and security, property right, and the acquisition, licensing and transfer of technology.
