Cara Houck Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Law
Cara M. Houck has been included in “Marquis Who's Who.” Houck is a Principal in Miller Canfield’s Chicago office. She was named an Illinois Super Lawyer in Business Litigation from 2012 to 2016 and was recently nominated as a Leading Lawyer in Illinois. She has also been one of her firm’s Pro Bono Champions since 2011.
During her 20-year career, Houck has tried numerous jury cases, non-jury cases, and arbitrations around the country, not only in state and federal courts but also in private fora. Her litigation experience ranges from toxic tort/wrongful death cases to complex commercial real estate foreclosures and guaranty actions, among other types of business controversies. She is also a prolific contributor to legal and medical industry journals, and is a sought-after speaker on a wide range of topics related to her practice.
She is the president of the Board of Directors for the Awassa Children’s Project located in Ethiopia. She travels there frequently to aid the project’s mission of educating poor village children, setting them on the path to higher education and realization of their own dreams to improve community and country. She has served on the Prevent Child Abuse America and Chicago Challenge Boards, and currently serves as a board member for the Chicago Bar Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping those who cannot afford legal services. Houck is a member of the American, Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations.
