Sherri Wellman Recognized in Michigan Lawyers Weekly Notable Women in Law
Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that Sherri Wellman is among the 2022 Michigan Lawyers Weekly Notable Women in Law.
Wellman is a principal attorney and the deputy leader of Miller Canfield’s Energy and Environmental Group. She has more than 30 years of experience in administrative, energy, public utility and telecommunications law, representing electric and gas public utilities, oil and natural gas producers, and transmission companies in administrative proceedings and before the courts.
Wellman has worked for nearly every public utility and nearly every investor-owned utility in Michigan and has been involved in every energy company merger in the state in the last decade. Her experience includes the successful defense of natural gas utilities against challenges to their gas purchasing practices by Michigan’s Attorney General and a residential consumer group. She has also served as lead appellate counsel for the association of Michigan’s electric and gas companies and other energy clients. In telecommunication matters, Wellman has represented clients before the Michigan Public Service Commission, the Federal Communications Commission, and the courts with successful results.
Wellman is involved in the American Bar Association Public Utility Law Section, the State Bar of Michigan Administrative Law Section, and the Ingham County Bar Association.
