September 10, 2020

Miller Canfield Principal Scott Lesser has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA).

Lesser is a leader on Miller Canfield's Commercial Real Estate Workout Team. He prides himself on guiding his clients and fellow practitioners alike to practical solutions to distressed real estate and finance situations. In pursuing this end, he has co-authored the Michigan chapter on receiverships in Strategies For and Against Distressed Businesses, published by Thomson Reuters, and the "Foreclosure of Mortgages and Land Contracts: Receiverships" chapter in the LexisNexis Practice Guide to Michigan Real Estate Litigation, and is a frequent speaker on distressed assets.

In addition to representing special servicers, financial institutions, private investors and other creditors, Lesser leverages his real estate litigation experience to help title insurance companies, receivers, property owners, real estate investors involved in ownership disputes, real estate developers and others work through difficult circumstances.

He has been recognized in Best Lawyers and Michigan Super Lawyers, and serves on the State Bar of Michigan Real Property Law Section's Continuing Legal Education Committee.

Formed in 1974, ACMA is the leading organization of mortgage attorneys in North America who are recognized by their peers as distinguished practitioners in the field of mortgage law and real estate finance. They are recognized for the high caliber of their legal skills, knowledge, experience and professionalism. ACMA has nearly 500 Fellows throughout the United States and its territories, Canada and Mexico.
