Miller Canfield Earns Honor from OutFront Kalamazoo for Support of LGBTQ Community
KALAMAZOO, MICH. (Jan. 19, 2019)—Miller Canfield is proud to be recognized by OutFront Kalamazoo for the firm's support of the LGBTQ community.
OutFront Kalamazoo serves the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community of greater Kalamazoo and its friends and allies. Every year, OutFront honors local community members and businesses that support the LGBTQ community, and has chosen Miller Canfield to receive the 2019 Business/Retail Award.
The award is in recognition of pro bono services the firm provided to the nonprofit in matters including harassment and discrimination training, assistance with revising OutFront's corporate structure, advising in a trademark dispute and trademark registration, and providing counsel on human resources matters.

Miller Canfield is the first law firm to sponsor the Detroit Regional LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce and is the only Michigan-based law firm to meet the high standards required by Diversity Lab's Mansfield Certification program, which requires the affirmative consideration of women and minority candidates in hiring and promotion decisions. In 2018, the firm expanded its policy to include LGBTQ candidates in hiring and promotions. The firm's pro bono team has provided services through the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund to assist transgender clients seeking legal name changes.
