Crain’s Names Megan Norris to 100 Most Influential Women List
Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that CEO Megan Norris was named on the Crain's Detroit Business 100 Most Influential Women in Michigan list, which is published once every five years.
The list includes leaders in state and federal government, nonprofits and some of Michigan's largest and most impactful businesses, who are selected based on the significance of their contributions and level of impact in their communities and businesses.
"I am humbled and honored to be included on this list of some of the most highly respected and influential women in Michigan," said Norris. "I'm very proud to lead an organization that invests in its leadership and that works to develop all of us, regardless of our backgrounds or whether we fit the traditional mold."
Norris was named Miller Canfield's first woman CEO in February 2021. A nationally recognized employment and labor attorney, she is a Fellow of the prestigious College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers. Prior to being named CEO, Norris had served as the leader of the firm's Employment and Labor Group and had served for eight years on Miller Canfield's Board of Managing Directors, which she chaired for six years.
Miller Canfield is the only Michigan-headquartered law firm to earn the Mansfield Certified Plus designation. To earn Mansfield Plus certification, firms must demonstrate that at least 30 percent of people affirmatively considered for governance positions, promotions and lateral-hire opportunities are women and attorneys from underrepresented groups, such as people of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys and attorneys with disabilities. They must also meet the goal of at least 30 percent representation in leadership roles.
