Miller Canfield Adds Four Attorneys in Michigan, Illinois

Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that four attorneys have joined the firm’s litigation, real estate, and energy and environmental groups. The announcement was made by Miller Canfield CEO Megan Norris.

Andrew Warnecke is a principal in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group in Chicago. He joins Miller Canfield from L&G Law Group in Chicago, where he chaired the Intellectual Property Group. His practice focuses on patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret matters. He has extensive experience in matters involving medical devices, computer software, consumer electronics, automotive manufacturing systems, and microchip technology. He earned a degree in engineering from Purdue University and is a graduate of The George Washington University Law School.

Kevin Aoun is a senior attorney in the Real Estate Group in Miller Canfield’s Ann Arbor office. He comes to the firm from Seyburn Kahn in Livonia, Michigan, where he focused his practice on commercial real estate matters, representing buyers, sellers, and owners in member disputes and drafting and reviewing loan documents. Aoun served as a member of the Livonia Comprehensive Master Plan Steering Committee and currently serves on the Livonia Human Relations Commission. He is a graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He is licensed in Michigan and Colorado.

Benjamin Holwerda is an associate who joined the Energy and Environmental Group in Miller Canfield’s Lansing office. He comes to the firm from the Michigan Department of Attorney General, where he represented and advised the Michigan Public Service Commission’s technical staff in administrative proceedings regarding the enforcement of state and federal energy and environmental regulations and consulted with public utilities, alternative electric suppliers, gas pipeline operators, renewable energy providers, and other entities in the energy industry to achieve compliance and implement regulatory solutions. Holwerda is a graduate of the University of Michigan and William & Mary Law School.

Derek Raymond is an associate who joined the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group in Detroit. Most recently, he was at Lewis Wagner in Indianapolis, where he represented businesses and individuals in state and federal court in all aspects of real estate and business litigation. He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in actions involving easement disputes, construction disputes, commercial leases, contract disputes, sales, product liability, and breach of fiduciary duty, and represented the Indiana Gaming Commission as outside counsel. Raymond is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
