Real Estate Attorney Matthew Steele Rejoins Miller Canfield

September 10, 2018

CINCINNATI (Sept. 10, 2018) – Miller Canfield has announced that Matthew Steele has rejoined the firm to open an office in Cincinnati. The new office will complement the Firm's presence in Cleveland and continue its strategy of expansion in Ohio and the broader Great Lakes region.

Steele had previously worked in Miller Canfield's Real Estate Group from 2012 to 2015. His work focused on commercial finance matters for national and regional banks, as well as complex real estate transactions and commercial workouts and foreclosures. He also represented receivers for commercial properties on all aspects of property management, leasing and disposition.

In 2015, he left the firm to serve as Legal Counsel and Vice President for Fifth Third Bank, where he was later named Assistant General Counsel and Vice President. While there, he was responsible for lines of business with more than $25 billion in lending assets.

"Cincinnati presents us with many opportunities. Its economy is one of the fastest-growing in the Midwest and is home to a number of important Firm clients," said Miller Canfield CEO Michael McGee. "Matt is the perfect person to lead the Cincinnati office. Finance is an important sector in the city's economy, and his experience serving Fifth Third will make him an asset to our current and future banking clients. He brings to his practice an insider's perspective that enhances his proven history of business savvy, legal expertise and problem solving, which are integral to our client-service approach."

Steele is licensed to practice in Ohio and Kentucky. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and Xavier University.
