Miller Canfield’s Joseph Infante Named a Notable Litigation Attorney
Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that Joseph Infante, a principal in the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group, has been recognized as a Crain’s Grand Rapids Business Notable Litigation Attorney. This prestigious honor highlights Infante’s exceptional contributions to the legal profession, his dedication to his clients, and his leadership within the craft beverage industry.
With nearly two decades of litigation experience, Infante has built a nationally recognized niche practice representing breweries, wineries, and distilleries. As the leader of Miller Canfield’s Alcoholic Beverage Manufacturing Team, he provides strategic counsel to clients navigating the highly regulated beverage industry, assisting them with distribution agreements, regulatory compliance, trademark disputes, licensing, branding, and litigation. His practice has been instrumental in helping small and startup craft beverage businesses grow into major industry players.
Infante’s significant litigation experience includes representing the Wineries of the Old Mission Peninsula in a highly publicized ordinance dispute against Peninsula Township, where his team successfully obtained partial summary judgment. He is also leading a similar case on behalf of California wineries against Napa County, addressing key constitutional issues affecting the industry.
Beyond his litigation achievements, Infante is a dedicated mentor, speaker, and thought leader in the craft beverage industry. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences, including the Craft Brewers Conference, Michigan Brewers Guild Winter Conference, and the National Distilling Institute’s national event, where he shares his expertise on legal and business issues impacting the industry.
A recognized leader in the Grand Rapids community, Infante has been an active volunteer with Hospice of Michigan for nearly a decade. He co-chaired the Barley, BBQ & Beats fundraiser in 2016 and was named Hospice of Michigan’s Volunteer of the Year in 2017. His commitment to service extends to his work with the Federal Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, Grand Rapids Bar Association, Michigan Brewers Guild, and the Brewers Association.
Infante has also earned numerous professional accolades, including recognition as a Top Lawyer in Litigation and Food & Beverage Law, a 40 Under 40 Business Leader, a Leading Lawyer in Michigan, and a Michigan Super Lawyer.
“Joe has built an incredibly unique and sophisticated litigation practice, not only serving clients with unparalleled knowledge of the craft beverage industry but also mentoring and leading within our firm,” said Miller Canfield CEO Mike Palizzi. “His well-earned recognition as a Notable Litigation Attorney reflects his dedication to his clients, his profession, and his community.”
