Miller Canfield's Amy Johnston Named a Michigan Lawyers Weekly Leader in the Law
Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that Amy Johnston has been named in the Michigan Lawyers Weekly Leaders in the Law Class of 2021.
Johnston serves as the chair of Miller Canfield's five-member board of managing directors and the co-leader of the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group.
"Amy is one of the state's best-known litigators, as well as a generous mentor and strong leader. We believe she embodies all of the traits celebrated in this recognition—exceptional legal skills, leadership ability and commitment to the legal community and the community at large," said Miller Canfield CEO Megan Norris, herself a Leader in the Law, Class of 2011.
As a member and co-leader of the firm's litigation practice, Johnston represents clients that include global and Fortune 100 companies as well as smaller businesses. Among her clients are global energy and automotive companies, financial institutions, manufacturers and real estate companies.
Johnston serves as the co-chair of the Federal Bar Association Committee for Law Day, which organizes activities and initiatives for Law Day, annually recognized nationwide in early May. One of the events the committee organizes is the annual "Ask the Lawyer" at the federal courthouse in Detroit, which brings together a panel of attorneys and sometimes more than 100 people, who are welcomed to attend on a walk-in basis to ask legal questions.
Since January 2017, Johnston has served on the Michigan Supreme Court Committee on Model Jury Instructions. In addition to many other legally substantive instructions, in the past four years, the committee has worked on drafting and implementing new jury instructions that deal specifically with implicit bias, which had not been previously included in Michigan.
Michigan Lawyers Weekly's annual Leaders in the Law awards recognize attorneys for their commitment to excellence in the practice of law and demonstrated leadership in the legal profession and their communities. They will be honored at a celebration on Dec. 2, 2021.
