Joel Bryant Elected Chair of SBM Litigation Section

Miller Canfield attorney Joel Bryant has been elected to serve as the chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Litigation Section.

Bryant is a principal in the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. In his practice, he represents businesses, municipalities and individuals in complex disputes, with an emphasis on sophisticated commercial litigation and federal and state appeals.

Bryant has served on the State Bar of Michigan Litigation Section governing council since 2018, including terms as vice chair, secretary and treasurer. He has also served as the editor in chief of the section’s quarterly publication The Litigation Journal.

Bryant is also an active member of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan, and the Detroit Bar Association, and participates in the Ford Law Career Academy program to help high school students of color develop the skills necessary for success in a legal career.

Bryant is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. He also holds a master’s degree in management from the London School of Economics, and a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University.
