Miller Canfield Expands Immigration Practice
DETROIT (July 30, 2018)—Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that two immigration attorneys have joined the firm in its Detroit office. The additions are part of a strategic vision to serve clients' current and future needs in immigration matters. CEO Michael McGee made the announcement.
Lu (Kevin) Wang and Elizabeth Boyda Baker joined the firm on July 30, 2018.
Wang has focused his practice on the management of high-volume H-1B cases, review of various non-immigrant visa applications including H-1B, TN, E-1, E-2, E-3, L-1A and L-1B, and preparation of PERM applications and DACA applications. He has experience in immigration matters involving researchers, athletes and artists, and investors and entrepreneurs seeking to establish companies in the United States.
Baker's experience in employment-based immigration includes management of multiple batch PERM recruitment and related filings, advising and counseling large, multinational clients regarding H-1B and LCA compliance, and conducting employer immigration training sessions. She has extensive experience in the IT, architecture and engineering industries.
"We are excited to add Kevin and Beth to our team, joining veteran immigration attorney Julianne Cassin Sharp, who joined us in May to lead our immigration practice," McGee said. "We've had significant demand from clients who have current needs as they hire globally. We anticipate demand will increase in the future as immigration reform is a top priority of our lawmakers."
Baker earned her Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where she graduated cum laude. Wang earned his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law and a Bachelor of Laws from Renmin University in Beijing. He is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
