Michelle Crockett Named in Crain’s 2021 Notable Executives in DEI
Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that Chief Diversity Officer Michelle Crockett has been named in the Crain's Detroit Business 2021 Notable Executives in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Leaders in DEI were selected based on their career accomplishments, track record of success in the field and the effectiveness of their efforts.
"We are proud of the work that the firm has done under Michelle's leadership," said Miller Canfield CEO Megan Norris. "She is relentless in her efforts to create actionable, measurable and results-driven initiatives that lead to meaningful change in our firm and in the business community."
Crockett's achievements in DEI include leading the firm to be included in the first class of major law firms nationwide to pilot the Mansfield Rule, which requires the firm to affirmatively consider a candidate pool that includes 30 percent women, LGBTQ, attorneys of color and attorneys with disabilities when making hiring and promotion decisions. Miller Canfield is also one of just 24 firms nationwide to earn the Mansfield Certified Plus designation three years in a row by demonstrating diverse representation in firm leadership roles.
The firm has partnered with Diversity Lab to implement a comprehensive strategy to support and retain women attorneys nearing the critical "Five Year Moment" during the years before and after becoming principals in the firm. Miller Canfield also became the first law firm to partner with the Detroit Regional LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and was recognized by OutFront Kalamazoo for support of the LGBTQ community.
