Miller Canfield Adds New Hires to Detroit, Lansing, Chicago Offices
Miller Canfield is pleased to announce the additions of three new associate attorneys in the firm's offices in Chicago, Detroit, and Lansing, Michigan.
Sam Charara has joined Miller Canfield's growing Intellectual Property Group in the firm's Detroit office. Charara has experience preparing and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications in the biotechnology, biomechanical assist devices, mechanical, autonomous driving and computer science fields. He also has experience in prosecution strategies, records of invention, and patentability reports for both domestic and international clients. Charara earned his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and his B.S. in biotechnology from the University of Michigan. He also has earned a certificate in Engineering and Design from Brown University and completed graduate medical studies with Saba University School of Medicine in the Netherlands.
Ashley Higginson has joined Miller Canfield's Employment and Labor Group and will work in the Lansing office. She has experience working in education law, as well as real estate and land use law. She worked with Newark Public Schools and Jersey City Public Schools, assisting with board of education matters, charter and private schools, schools for students with disabilities, and matters involving the Open Public Records Act, FERPA, teacher tenure, and special education and 504 accommodations. Higginson is a 2015 graduate of Rutgers University School of Law and a 2011 Princeton University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics.
Magdalena (Maggie) Schenone has joined the firm's Financial Institutions Group in the Chicago office. She has experience representing clients in negotiation, evaluation and documentation of derivatives trading and financing arrangements, analyzing and evaluating credit and commercial terms in complex trading agreements, and providing counsel on the impact of various regulatory developments on clients' financial relationships. Schenone is a 2015 graduate of DePaul University College of Law, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2010.
