Miller Canfield Lawyer Megan Norris Co-Authors Book on Family Medical Leave Act

April 18, 2012

The law firm of Miller Canfield announces that Megan P. Norris, a principal and leader of the Employment and Labor Group, has co-authored Family & Medical Leave and the Law, a publication of ALM’s Law Journal Press.

Norris co-authored Family & Medical Leave and the Law with James B. Thelen, associate dean for legal affairs and general counsel of Thomas M. Cooley Law School and former Miller Canfield employment and labor lawyer. The book is written for employers, workers, labor unions, and their respective attorneys. It focuses on key questions raised by the FMLA, including the employee’s legal right to take an unpaid leave, the employer’s obligations, and the legal and practical considerations for both. A detailed table of contents, as well as ordering information, is available at www.lawcatalog.com.

Law Journal Press is a leading publisher whose well-known publications include The American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel, The National Law Journal, New York Law Journal and Minority Law Journal.

At Miller Canfield, Norris counsels clients on employment law matters including discipline and discharge, discrimination, harassment and tort claims. She is a nationally recognized expert on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the FMLA and has been recognized for her work in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Michigan Super Lawyers. She is a “2011 Leader in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. She also serves as a managing director of the firm, a five-person management administration that works with the CEO to oversee the firm’s offices.

She received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. from Wesleyan University, where she is a member of the board of trustees.
