Miller Canfield Lawyer David Thoms Elected to Local Board of National Association of Estate Planners and Councils
Miller Canfield principal David M. Thoms (Troy, Mich. office) was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Financial and Estate Planning Council of Metro Detroit, Inc., an affiliation of the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils (NAEPC).
As a board member, Thoms will promote cooperative efforts in the fields of estate and business planning among the professionals and business enterprises represented by members as well as the general public.
The National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC) is a national organization of professional estate planners and affiliated estate planning councils focused on establishing and monitoring the highest professional and educational standards.
At Miller Canfield, Thoms is a member of the Personal Services Group and co-leader of the Nonprofit and Charitable Organizations Group. He concentrates his practice in estate planning and tax, non-profit organizations, business entity planning and tax, succession planning, and real estate.
He received an L.L.M. in taxation from Wayne State University School of Law, a J.D. from the University of Detroit-Mercy, a M.U.P. (Masters of Urban Planning) from Wayne State University, and a B.A. in History, with distinction, from Kalamazoo College. He also attended l'Université de Caen, France.He resides in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
