Miller Canfield Lawyer David Thoms Presented William Booth Award by the Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division
Miller Canfield principal David M. Thoms (Troy, Mich. office) was honored with the William Booth Award by The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division and its Metro Detroit Advisory Board at the nonprofit’s annual Board Civic Awards Dinner on October 26.
The William Booth Award, named for the nonprofit’s founder, is one of the highest awards conferred upon an individual by The Salvation Army. It is given annually to a deserving individual for outstanding service to the community though the donation of time, talents and energy, as well as dedication to The Salvation Army’s goal of service.
At Miller Canfield, Thoms is a member of the Personal Services Group and co-leader of the Nonprofit and Charitable Organizations Group. He concentrates his practice in estate planning and tax, non-profit organizations, business entity planning and tax, succession planning, and real estate.
He received an L.L.M. in taxation from Wayne State University School of Law, a J.D. from the University of Detroit-Mercy, a M.U.P. (Masters of Urban Planning) from Wayne State University, and a B.A. in History, with distinction, from Kalamazoo College. He also attended l'Université de Caen, France.
He resides in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
