Miller Canfield Discusses Urgent, New White-Collar Regulations

May 5, 2004

The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. presents “New White-Collar Regulations from the U.S. Department of Labor,” Tuesday, May 18, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Michigan State Management Education Center in Troy. This timely seminar will provide a summary of changes, as well as practical tips on how to meet the Department of Labor’s regulations concerning overtime rules of executive, administrative, professional and outside sales exemptions to the Fair Labor Standards Act, with which the Department has given employers only 120 days to comply.

The seminar will be led by Miller Canfield attorney Michael A. Alaimo, who was formerly an attorney with the Solicitor of Labor and is a 15-year veteran of counseling and defending employers on wage and hour matters and litigation.

"The Department of Labor has promised to vigorously enforce the new rules after the 120-day period. It is therefore critical for business owners, managers and other key personnel to attend this seminar to ensure that their companies are complying with the law when the August 23, 2004, deadline arrives,” said Alaimo.

Those interested in attending should contact Virginia Herrick at 313/496-7548 or herrick@millercanfield.com. Reservations are required. Cost is $25 per person. Reference materials will be provided and a healthy, continental breakfast will be available starting at 8:00 a.m.
