Miller Canfield Lawyer Takes His Skills to the Ice for Charity
Miller Canfield lawyer, David Grand, a principal in the Ann Arbor office, took his charitable efforts to another level...the ice. Grand is outside general counsel to the International Hockey League (IHL), an appointment that inspired him to again play organized hockey after a 25-year hiatus. Grand was invited to play with Carhartt, Inc., a sponsor of the IHL, in a charity game against the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association on Friday, December 3. The game raised more than $10,000 for the Macomb-Oakland Regional Center (MORC), which helps individuals with disabilities and mental illness realize their dreams as full members of their communities.
Grand was pleased to participate in the event. “As a life-long Red Wings fan and someone who’s recently gotten back into playing hockey, this was a thrill for me. But, more importantly, I was happy, along with Miller Canfield, to contribute to an event that raised money for MORC. Carhartt put on a first-class event and the Red Wings Alumni players couldn’t have been more gracious and genuine interacting with the fans, many of whom were individuals served by MORC,” he said.
