Bond Attorney Jessica L. Wood Joins Miller Canfield
Michigan’s top bond counsel firm, Miller Canfield, announces that bond attorney Jessica L. Wood has joined the firm as senior counsel in the Public Finance Group in the Grand Rapids, Michigan office. She will continue representing cities, villages, townships, libraries and other clients, particularly in West Michigan, in financial transactions.
“We welcome Jessica and her depth of knowledge. She enhances our existing capabilities and allows us to continue to expand our bond practice in West Michigan,” said Amanda Van Dusen, leader of Miller Canfield’s Public Finance Group.
Wood has 14 years of experience, including eight years in public sector finance and law, representing a wide range of municipal and library clients.
“Miller Canfield is a perfect fit for my practice. I am excited to be joining a public finance team that has deep history, resources and respect in Michigan and the Midwest,” said Wood.
She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Public Corporation Section, Grand Rapids Bar Association, National Association of Bond Lawyers, and Michigan Association of Michigan Attorneys.
She received her J.D. from the University of Oregon and her B.A. with distinction from the University of Michigan.
Miller Canfield’s public finance practice consists of nearly 30 lawyers—the largest group of municipal finance experts in Michigan—specializing in capital projects and infrastructure improvements, economic development projects, municipal securities representations, environmental response projects, government and regulatory affairs, hospitals, housing, and local, state and federal tax.
Thomson Financial ranked Miller Canfield first among Michigan bond counsel law firms in the 2009 Bond Counsel Rankings, recognizing the firm for 103 long term new bond issues totaling $3.851 billion. The firm has been the number one-ranking bond counsel in Michigan every year in the ranking’s 30-year history.
