Miller Canfield Attorney William Beach Appointed Chair of State Bar Public Corporations Law Section

William B. Beach, senior attorney in the Public Law Group at Miller Canfield, was appointed to a one-year term as chair of Public Corporations Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.

The Section studies the laws and procedures relating to public law as they relate to the activities of government corporations, agencies, departments and boards, including townships, counties, villages, cities, schools, and charter or special authorities; promotes the fair and just administration of public law; studies, reports on, and recommends necessary legislation; and promotes the legal education of members of the Bar and the public concerning public law.

Beach is recognized by Michigan Super Lawyers 2007 and 2008 for his public law work. He is special counsel to numerous municipalities across the state and is the City Attorney for the Cities of Milan and Rockwood. He is a former President of the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys.

His practice comprises all aspects of real estate, intergovernmental agreements, state and federal financing incentives and tax credits. He also specializes in general governmental corporate law covering development and redevelopment of land through public and private partnerships, municipal boundary changes, and international government trade and business.

He received his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School.
