Controller Joins Miller Canfield

The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. announces that Joseph W. Thimm has joined its Detroit office as senior controller. Thimm brings over 20 years’ experience in financial analysis and reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and payroll. Most recently, he was controller at the law firm of Bodman, Longley & Dahling LLP.

Thimm’s prior experience includes senior financial analyst at MCA Mortgage Corporation in Southfield, and controller, Independence One Mortgage Corporation in Southfield. He is experienced in developing multi-year strategic plans and budgets, designing system controls, and managing the accounting for purchased mortgage servicing rights and non-conforming mortgage loan interest-only pools. He also has experience in high growth and turnaround situations.

He received his M.B.A. in 1993 in finance from Wayne State University, where he also received his B.B.A. in 1981 in business administration and accounting.

A resident of Novi, Thimm is active in the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the finance committee at Church of the Holy Family.

The 300-attorney law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. was established in Detroit in 1852 and has offices in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Howell, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Monroe, and Troy, Michigan.
