Miller Canfield Presents "Criminal Law Essentials for the Business Lawyer," March 4 in Birmingham

On Tuesday, March 4, the law firm of Miller Canfield will present “Criminal Law Essentials for the Business Lawyer,” from 7:30-9:00 a.m. at the Townsend Hotel (One Hundred Townsend St, Birmingham), to help business lawyers prepare for when clients call with sensitive criminal law questions.

The breakfast briefing will be led by Miller Canfield criminal defense attorneys Thomas W. Cranmer, a former president of State Bar of Michigan; Saul A. Green, a former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan; and Matthew F. Leitman, co-chair of the Eastern District of Michigan Federal Bar Association Criminal Defense Committee, and will cover questions like:


• I suspect an employee may be committing a crime. What should I do?
• An employee has been arrested by the police for conduct related to work. Can I help? Should I? What should I do?
• I suspect my company has been a victim of a crime. What is the most effective way to get the police involved?
• The police have called seeking to interview an employee, officer or director. What do I tell them? What should I do?
• The police have shown up at my office with a search warrant. What should I do?
• I have received a federal grand jury subpoena for records. How do I respond?
