Miller Canfield Attorney Named Chair of State Bar of Michigan's Real Property Law Section

The law firm of Miller Canfield Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. announces that Lawrence M. Dudek, principal in the firm’s Detroit office, was recently appointed chair of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He previously served as chair-elect, 2002-2003; vice-chair, 201-2002; and secretary, 2000-2001, for the Section.

At Miller Canfield, Dudek is a litigator who represents banking institutions and secured creditors in connection with all aspects of commercial foreclosures and workouts involving real estate and personal property, such as out-of-court workouts, federal bankruptcy, and state court litigation proceedings, as well as commercial construction claims for defects, delays, and impacts.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, Federal Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association, and Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association.

He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School, and his B.A. from the University of Michigan. Prior to joining the firm in 1990, he was a senior partner in the Southfield, Michigan law firm of Schlussel, Lifton, Simon, Rands, Galvin & Jackier, P.C.

He is a frequent speaker on bankruptcy, real estate, and personal property topics and has published several decisions and articles relating to his area of practice.

He resides in Livonia, Michigan.
