Miller Canfield Attorney Appointed to Local Rules Advisory Committee of U.S. District Court - Eastern District of Michigan
The law firm of Miller Canfield proudly announces that Matthew F. Leitman, a principal in the Troy office, was appointed by the Judges of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan to a three-year term as a member of the Court's Local Rules Advisory Committee, effective May 7, 2007.
Leitman is a member of Miller Canfield’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. He practices criminal defense, complex commercial litigation, including shareholders' disputes, contract actions and business tort actions, and appellate litigation.
His experience includes trial practice before state and federal trial courts as well as numerous appeals before state and federal appellate courts. He has been counsel of record in many published judicial decisions, and he has written journal articles on a variety of criminal and civil topics.
He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, Oakland County Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Non-White-Collar Criminal Defense and White-Collar Criminal Defense Sections of the 2007 edition.
He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1993 and his B.A., with highest distinction and Phi Beta Kappa, from The University of Michigan in 1990, majoring in Political Science.
