Miller Canfield Attorney Elected Chairman of City of Bloomfield Hills Zoning Board of Appeals
The law firm of Miller Canfield announces that Michael P. Coakley, a principal and commercial litigator in the Detroit office, has been elected to a one-year term as chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the city of Bloomfield Hills.
At Miller Canfield, Coakley practices commercial litigation including securities, antitrust, unfair competition, copyright, trademarks, trade names, trade secrets, franchises, commercial transactions, banks and banking, fraud, closely held corporations, insurance and defamation.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association, and the American Arbitration Association, of which he is a member of the Advisory Council for the Midwest for arbitration of large, complex cases. He is an arbitrator for the New York Stock Exchange, Inc., the National Association of Securities Dealers and the Chicago Board Options Exchange, and mediates for the Wayne County Circuit Court and the Oakland County Circuit and District Courts.
He has been a member of the board of directors of the Old Newsboys’ Goodfellows for over 10 years.
He received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and his B.A. from Richard Stockton State College.
He resides in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
