Attorney Appointed Commissioner at Large of the State Bar of Michigan

Marjory G. Basile, a principal in the Detroit office of the law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C., has been appointed, by Order of the Michigan Supreme Court dated July 26, 2000, a Commissioner at Large of the State Bar of Michigan through the year 2003.

Ms. Basile is head of the firm's Intellectual Property Practice, and a member of the Automotive Industry Group. Her extensive intellectual property practice includes trademark and copyright procurement, U.S. PTO inter-party proceedings, licensing, infringement litigation and dispute resolution, and business counseling regarding trade secrets, intellectual property audits, intellectual property ownership, protection issues, and E-commerce issues.

Ms. Basile was awarded her law degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Detroit, and has a B.A. in journalism from Marygrove College.

Her professional memberships include the American, Michigan, and Oakland County Bar Associations, the American Arbitration Association, Intellectual Property Owners' Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Michigan Patent Lawyers' Association, and the Mortgage Bankers' Association.

She is a frequent speaker on intellectual property-related topics, and has authored two articles published in Employment Relations Today and Michigan Civil Procedure During Trial.

She resides in Birmingham.
