Miller Canfield's Annual Labor and Employment Law Seminar
Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. announces the details of its Annual Labor and Employment Law Seminar on Thursday, October 20, from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the MSU Management Education Center in Troy (811 W. Square Lake Road). Presentations and interactive workshops will provide important legal and practical updates on a wide range of topics for human resource professionals, corporate counsel, and business executives who need to stay current on labor and employment laws, regulations and practices.
Come see the Miller Canfield team give a dysfunctional, overwhelmed HR office a "Legal Eye for the HR Guy (or Gal)" makeover! Keynote Speaker Rodger Will, Workers Compensation Appellate Commissioner, will present an inside view of workers comp hearings and appeals. The curriculum also includes Miller Canfield's well-established brand of practical how-to workshops on topics such as the electronic workplace, the changing rules in Affirmative Action, the new HIPAA security rule, OSHA, how to handle a DOL investigation and prevent FLSA liability, immigration/Homeland Security, the basics of hiring and firing employees, and military leave issues.
“Employers face a variety of legal concerns as the government increases workplace regulation and as workers become more vocal and litigious in protecting individual rights,” said John H. Willems, Miller Canfield labor and employment attorney and seminar coordinator. “This seminar will provide invaluable information for keeping employers ahead of the ever changing labor and employment legal curve."
The all-day seminar begins with a continental breakfast. Cost is $85 per person and also includes lunch and reference materials on CD-ROM and in hard copy. Parking is free. Register online at www.millercanfield.com or call Virginia Herrick at 313/496-7548.
This program is approved for 7 recertification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). For more information about certification or recertification, please visit the HRCI homepage at www.hrci.org.
