Miller Canfield Establishes Endowment Fund in Memory of Colleague

August 4, 2004

The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. has established and made a significant contribution to an endowment fund in memory of former colleague, Walter A. Payne III, "Andy," who passed away earlier this summer. The Walter A. Payne III Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan has the flexibility to benefit the wide range of charitable activities that Andy knew were important to enhance the quality of life for all who live and work in this region. The Community Foundation will be able to perpetuate his memory by supporting the most promising activities both now and for years to come.

"We worked closely with Andy's family and friends to make sure that we created a fund that will leave a lasting legacy in his memory and continue his commitment to enrich our region," said Thomas W. Linn, CEO of Miller Canfield. "The Community Foundation was one of Andy's favorite organizations and clients. For nearly 20 years, he provided legal services to the Community Foundation, was active in fulfilling its mission, and had close professional and personal relationships with the Foundation and its staff, trustees and stakeholders."
