Miller Canfield Presents "Immigration Update: Strategies for Employers"

August 17, 2006

There once was a time when governmental immigration audits were rare. Today, employers need to be prepared if and when the government comes knocking. Join the law firm of Miller Canfield for this informative, free business briefing, “Immigration Update: Strategies for Employers,” on Tuesday, September 19, from 7:30-9:00 a.m. at Automation Alley in Troy (2675 Bellingham, Troy).

Virginia Norkevicius and Karen McAmmond of Miller Canfield’s Immigration Services will discuss the current requirements of immigration employment compliance and how changes in immigration laws and policies may affect employers.

To be discussed:

• How can an employer prepare for a possible audit or investigation? Severe fines and criminal or civil penalties can be given if immigration employment documents, such as the I-9 and LCA, are not properly completed, presented or retained.

• What are the different options for employers to gain new workers?

• What is the status of the latest immigration legislation?

This event is co-sponsored by Automation Alley and Miller Canfield. A continental breakfast is included. There is no cost to attend, however, reservations are required. Please contact Sandy Bera at 248.267.3345 or bera@millercanfield.com.
