Tax Attorney Michele Zinn Joins Miller Canfield
The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. announces that Michele R. Zinn has joined the firm as senior counsel in the Kalamazoo, Mich. office, bringing nearly 20 years’ experience in tax law to the Federal Tax Practice Group and Corporate and Securities Group. She has significant experience with the taxation of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including tax-free reorganizations, cross-border transactions, corporation-shareholder issues, redemptions, spin-offs, liquidations and partnership issues.
Prior to joining Miller Canfield, she was a director in the M&A Tax Practice and was chief operating officer of the Global M&A Tax Practice at KPMG LLP in Washington D.C. and Baltimore, Md., as well as a member of KPMG's Washington National Tax practice's M&A Tax group. There she provided technical tax advise, implemented global initiatives, and served as an international liaison. She also developed a multidisciplinary tax practice to help entities engaged in international acquisitions, joint ventures or strategic dispositions meet their transaction objectives in a tax-efficient manner.

She is a member of the Section of Taxation of both the State Bar of Michigan and American Bar Association, and District of Columbia Bar. She also is a member of the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association and American Paint Horse Association.
Zinn received her LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center and her J.D. from Vermont Law School. She also studied at the University of Exeter in England, focusing on international business transactions, French civil law, and European economic community law. She received her B.A. from Western Michigan University. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a marketing associate in yacht sales for several years.
She resides in Hickory Corners, Michigan.
