Clients Give Law Firm High Marks

June 5, 1995

According to a survey conducted by The American Lawyer’s Corporate Counsel Magazine, clients rate Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. one of the best law firms in the country for client service, quality work, and value. Miller Canfield was the only Michigan law firm to receive recognition in nine out of eleven categories--a significantly higher number than any other Michigan law firm in the survey.

The American Lawyer survey asked 45,000 corporate counsel to rate their top three favorite law firms in eleven different practice areas for service, quality of work, and value. Corporate counsel were asked to select only firms that had actually done work for them in the past two years. According to The American Lawyer, The 400 survey responses reflect a representative sample of in-house lawyers across the country.

Of the hundreds of law firms mentioned, only nine law firms in the country received recommendations in more than eight practice areas in this national survey. No law firm received "votes" in all eleven areas. Miller Canfield received client recommendations in nine out of eleven of the practice areas.

No other Michigan law firm received votes in more than six practice areas. The practice areas included in the survey were banking, bankruptcy, workouts and restructuring, corporate (including securities), employment law, environmental law, insurance (coverage, corporate, and regulatory), intellectual property, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, product liability and insurance defense, and tax.

The 250-attorney law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. has offices in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Howell, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Monroe, and Washington, D.C., with affiliated offices in Pensacola and St. Petersburg, Florida, and Gdansk and Warsaw, Poland.
