Jeffrey Drake to Speak at Israeli Firm on State of Software Patents

April 18, 2017

Jeffrey M. Drake, a principal in the Chicago office of Miller Canfield, will be a guest speaker at UpLink, the high-tech club at Tel-Aviv’s Tadmor Levy, one of Israel’s largest law firms. He will speak to attendees about the state of U.S. software patents since the Supreme Court’s 2015 opinion in Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank Intl.

Drake is an intellectual property attorney who litigates patent matters for clients in industries that include software, pharmaceutical compositions, animal health products, power tools, medical devices, telecommunications, automobile aftermarket products and more. He led a team of attorneys in a case that awarded Miller Canfield client Motio Inc. a verdict of more than $1 million in lost profits, months after the Alice decision made it much more difficult for software innovators to protect their work through patents.

The event, “Current State of Software Patents in the US and Israel,” will be held 5-7:30 p.m., April 26, 2017 at Tadmor & Co. Yuval Levy & Co. in Tel Aviv.
