Dawn Schluter Named Among Michigan Lawyers Weekly's Women in the Law Class of 2016
Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that Dawn M. Schluter, a principal at the firm, has been named one of Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s Women in the Law for 2016.
The annual Women in the Law luncheon and awards ceremony recognizes and celebrates the significant contributions made by 30 women attorneys to the legal profession, their mentorship of other women and their commitment to giving back in the communities they serve. The luncheon will be held on Sept. 15, 2016.
“It is such an honor to be recognized along with so many talented and successful women attorneys,” Dawn said. “I thank Michigan Lawyers Weekly for their commitment to highlighting the excellent work of women lawyers.”
Dawn represents high net worth individuals, families and business owners, helping them with strategic estate, tax, wealth transfer, succession and retirement planning, as well as family law, charitable giving and tax preparation.
She embodies character and superior client service, and is being recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in part due not only to her exceptional legal expertise, but also for her commitment to serving as an advocate and role model to other women attorneys. For most of her career, Dawn has been a high-energy and vocal proponent of change for women attorneys.
Most recently, during the first half of this year, Dawn represented Miller Canfield in the inaugural Women in Law Hackathon, an innovative “Shark Tank”-style pitch competition created by the Diversity Lab in collaboration with Stanford Law School and Bloomberg Law. She was one of 54 top attorneys, primarily from the largest firms in New York, California and Washington, D.C., to participate. The goal of the program is to generate innovative ideas and solutions that will lead to greater recruitment, retention and advancement of women in law firms.
Dawn will continue, with the support of Miller Canfield’s CEO and management, to work as co-chair of the Hackathon Support committee, which was established to not only support her participation in the Hackathon, but to facilitate meaningful change within the firm.
Dawn has also received other honors for her significant contributions to the practice of law, including recognition in: Best Lawyers in America; Five Star Professional Estate Planning, HOUR Detroit and DBusiness; and Michigan Super Lawyers.
