Paul Hudson to Receive Golden Gavel Award

April 6, 2016

Miller Canfield, a Detroit-based global law firm, has announced that Paul D. Hudson will receive the Golden Gavel Award from the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel at the MDTC Awards Banquet on May 13, 2016.

Based in Miller Canfield’s Kalamazoo office, Hudson heads the firm’s Appeals Section, counseling clients on appellate strategy and procedure, representing individual, corporate and higher-education clients in state and federal appellate courts across the country.

A principal at Miller Canfield, Hudson is active in state and federal bar associations, holding leadership positions on the American Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Committee and the State Bar of Michigan’s Litigation Section. He was appointed to serve as chairman of the Sixth Circuit’s Advisory Committee on Rules. Hudson formerly served as the editor in chief and publications chairman of the State Bar of Michigan Litigation Journal, and co-authored the Michigan chapter of a leading treatise on commercial disputes, “Business Torts: A Fifty State Guide.”

“We are proud of Paul’s many professional accomplishments, and of his well-deserved recognition from the MDTC,” said Miller Canfield CEO Michael McGee. “Paul not only serves his clients with exceptional skill, insight and thoughtfulness, but he is also a committed leader who supports his colleagues and other young attorneys at the firm.”

The annual Golden Gavel Award recognizes attorneys who have not practiced law for more than 10 years, and who have made significant contributions in their areas of practice, in their communities, and for the advancement of young attorneys. For more information, please visit http://www.mdtc.org/.
