Miller Canfield Attorney Frederick Acomb Named Secretary of International Bar Association Committee

Miller Canfield, a Detroit-based global law firm, has announced that Frederick Acomb, leader of the International Disputes Group (Detroit office), has been appointed secretary of the International Bar Association Litigation Committee.

The International Bar Association (IBA) is the world’s leading organization of international legal practitioners, bar associations and law societies. The IBA influences the development of international law reform and shapes the future of the legal profession throughout the world. The IBA has a membership of more than 80,000 individual lawyers and more than 190 bar associations and law societies spanning over 160 countries. The Litigation Committee is the second-largest committee in the IBA, with more than 2,000 members worldwide.

This is second officer position Acomb has held with the IBA. In 2015, he served as website co-editor of the IBA Litigation Committee. Also in 2015, Acomb co-edited and co-authored “Handbook on Multi-Tiered Dispute Resolution Clauses,” a 229-paged 50-nation legal compendium published by the committee.

Miller Canfield’s International Disputes Group, which is led by Acomb, has a robust transnational litigation practice and has presented and defended a wide range of international arbitration claims, conducted under most institutional rules, in every major region of the world. Drawing on its deep roots in Detroit, the center of the global automotive industry, the group aims to serve as the preeminent midmarket international disputes group in the world in service of the global manufacturing industry. In addition to Acomb, members of the Group include Professor Troy L.
