Miller Canfield Lawyer Joseph Huntzicker Selected as a Winner of the Finance Monthly Deal Maker of the Year Awards for 2015

DETROIT (Jan. 6, 2016)—The law firm of Miller Canfield has announced that Joseph Huntzicker, principal in the firm’s Chicago and Ann Arbor offices, was selected as a winner of the Finance Monthly Deal Maker of the Year Awards for 2015.

Huntzicker was recognized for his involvement as legal counsel to Fifth Third Bank for the bank’s $46.5 million purchase of privately placed tax-exempt bonds issued by the Illinois Finance Authority. Proceeds of the bonds will assist in financing projects in the first phase of high-profile updates to Navy Pier, Chicago’s top tourist site, including the purchase and installation of a new observation wheel which will replace the existing Ferris wheel.

Huntzicker practices in the areas of secured lending and commercial real estate, including:  acquisition and development of retail, office, hotel, residential, industrial property;  representing landlords, tenants and property managers in commercial leasing matters; and representing owners in obtaining conventional and securitized financing. He has extensive experience in commercial real estate transactions and  advises clients on entity formation and governance matters. In the area of secured lending, Huntzicker represents lenders in the negotiation, documentation and closing of commercial loans secured by real property and/or personal property, in addition to handling post-closing loan administration, loan modifications, restructurings, forbearances and workouts and all matters relating to Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code. 

Huntzicker received his juris doctorate from University of Michigan Law School in 2000, and his bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan in 1996. He is admitted to practice law in California, Illinois and Michigan.
