Miller Canfield and Affirmations present "Marriage Equality: New Legalities" Sept. 16 in Ferndale, Michigan

August 17, 2015

The law firm of Miller Canfield and Affirmations, Metro-Detroit’s Community Center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people and their allies, will host a complimentary seminar, “Marriage Equality: New Legalities” Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. in the Affirmations Community Room, 290 W. 9 Mile Road.

Miller Canfield family law attorneys Jennifer LaTosch and Lynn Sirich will discuss legal issues affecting all couples including marriage; adoptions; divorce; pre and post nuptials; domestic partner benefits; estate planning; property/home ownership; and health care insurance.

“With the changes in the law, we want to help newly married same-sex couples or those considering marriage - and their families and employers - to be prepared with the planning, preparation and execution of legal protections, asset allocations and other safeguards to provide a lifetime of peace of mind,” said LaTosch, also a Ferndale resident and Vice President of the Ferndale School Board.  LaTosch said all couples should also review existing documents including wills, trusts, employer benefit declaration forms and even bank and investment accounts.

No reservations are required for the free September 16 seminar.  Light refreshments and handouts will be provided, courtesy of Miller Canfield.  Learn more at www.affirmations.org or www.millercanfield.com.
