January 30, 2015

The law firm of Miller Canfield announces that it served as legal advisor to Ellington Housing, Inc. on the $126 million sale of over 900 single-family rental homes in seven states.

The Miller Canfield legal team was led by real estate principal Eric C. Bartley and included colleagues Alex Clark, Brian Foley and Chelsey Marsh (all from the Troy, MI office).

Ellington Housing, based in Old Greenwich, Conn., sold the homes located in Texas, Georgia, Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina, Mississippi and Tennessee to American Homes 4 Rent, a California property management company.

Miller Canfield’s Commercial Real Estate Finance team, led by Bartley, represents financial institutions in all aspects of commercial real estate finance. Lawyers serve as counsel for national lenders in several thousand commercial mortgage originations across the U.S. on portfolio loans as well as conduit loans intended for securitization in the capital markets. Additionally, Bartley has handled matters for nearly $1 billion of distressed assets secured by a wide range of property types including multifamily, office, retail, industrial, manufactured housing, and hospitality.
