Miller Canfield Elects Nine New Principals

The law firm of Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that the following people have been elected principals of the firm.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS OFFICE:

Jeffrey M. Drake, from senior attorney to principal. Drake focuses his practice on the procurement and enforcement of patents, copyrights, trademarks and other forms of intellectual property. He received his J.D. (2003) from John Marshall Law School and his B.S. (2000) from Washington University in St. Louis.

Robert C. Levels, from senior attorney to principal. Levels’ practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation, products liability cases and consumer class actions. He also devotes considerable time to pro bono work for civil litigants and asylum seekers. He received his J.D. (2005) from Harvard Law School and his B.A. (1999) from Yale University.

Blake E. Schulman, from senior attorney to principal. Schulman concentrates his practice in commercial real estate matters including acquisitions and dispositions, financing, joint ventures, leasing, construction and commercial development. He received his J.D. (2001) from the University of Michigan Law School and his B.B.A. (1999) from the University of Michigan.

DETROIT, MICHIGAN OFFICE:

Kimberly A. Berger, from senior attorney to principal. Berger specializes in domestic and international trademark prosecution and intellectual property litigation, including domain name disputes, trade secrets, unfair competition, false advertising, and trademark and copyright infringement. She received her J.D. (1999) from Wayne State University Law School and her B.A. (1996) from the University of Detroit-Mercy.

Marc N. Swanson, from associate to principal. In bankruptcy cases across the country, Swanson represents lenders, litigants, customers, suppliers, creditors’ committees, unsecured and administrative creditors. He received his J.D. (2007) from the University of Minnesota Law School and his B.A. (2004) from the University of Michigan.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN OFFICE:

Joseph M. Infante, from senior attorney to principal. Infante’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, intellectual property and alcoholic beverage manufacturing regulation. He received his J.D. (2005) from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and his B.S. (2002) from Michigan State University.

Steven F. Stapleton, from senior counsel to principal. Stapleton has extensive experience in commercial litigation, including complex breach of contract claims, business disputes, municipal litigation, condemnation actions and employment litigation. He received his J.D. (1994) from the University of Detroit and his B.A. (1991) from Grand Valley State University.

KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN OFFICE:

Leigh M. Schultz, from associate to principal. Schultz specializes in labor and employment consultation, including day-to-day employment-related issues, and civil litigation, defending lawsuits involving employment-related claims and commercial issues. She received her J.D. (2005) from Chicago-Kent College of Law and her B.A. (2002) from the University of Michigan.

TROY, MICHIGAN OFFICE:

Eric C. Bartley, from associate to principal. Bartley represents financial institutions on a national basis in all aspects of commercial real estate finance including conduit and portfolio commercial mortgage originations and the workout and restructuring of distressed assets. He received his J.D. (2006) from Michigan State University College of Law and his B.S. (2000) from Illinois State University.
