Professor Troy Harris Joins Miller Canfield as Of Counsel to the International Dispute Resolution Section

September 24, 2012

The law firm of Miller Canfield announces that Troy Harris has joined the firm as Of Counsel to the International Dispute Resolution Section of the Commercial Litigation and Trial Group.  He will continue as a full time assistant professor of law at the University of Detroit Mercy Law School, where he teaches International Commercial Arbitration, Sales, Contracts, and Construction Law.

Prof. Harris has successfully represented clients in numerous arbitrations and litigation matters in the United States and abroad, including complex construction disputes in the energy, manufacturing, public infrastructure, and transportation sectors, with parties from throughout Europe and the Americas.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the Executive Committee of the Chartered Institute’s North American Branch, and co-authored a first-in-its-field, how-to practice guide, International Construction Arbitration Handbook (2 vols.), first published by West in 2008 and updated annually.  He is listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” in the area of Construction Law.  He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

“Troy is a great addition to Miller Canfield and a valuable resource to clients. He brings not only scholarship in the area, but also considerable real-world experience obtained during his 10 years practicing international arbitration and construction law with an international law firm,” said Fred Acomb, chair of Miller Canfield’s International Dispute Resolution Section.
