Ann Arbor Morning Update: Don't Let BYOD Become LFYO (Liability For Your Organization)
Please join Miller Canfield to discuss privacy, security and data retrieval and how an organization can protect itself with workable policies and procedures. BYOD, bring your own device, means that employees and contractors can use personal devices such as laptops, smartphones, home computers and tablets, to conduct an organization's business.
Legal questions arising from BYOD:
- Whose responsibility is it to protect and secure the device?
- What happens to company data if the device is lost or stolen, or an employee leaves the job?
- Could an organization be sanctioned if a contractor deletes from a personal laptop company information that falls within the scope of a litigation discovery request?
