Compliance with ITAR and other U.S. Export Control Laws Overview (Michigan InfraGard Quarterly Meeting)

Personnel of companies who are active (or considering entry) in the defense, aerospace or automotive industries will receive an overview of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other U.S. Export Control Laws, which will include a discussion on:
- Determining whether a company is a “Defense Contractor” subject to ITAR and other U.S. export control laws
- Understanding the process of how a company would ascertain whether it’s current or potential product, service or technology offering would be covered under ITAR and other U.S. export control laws
- Understanding, generally, the obligations associated with the care, custody, access, use, transmission and export of items considered Defense Articles, Defense Services and Technical Data under ITAR or controlled items under other U.S. export control laws
- Understanding the compulsory defense contractor DDTC registration process with ITAR Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), the U.S. State Department Agency charged with the administration and enforcement of ITAR
- Searching the Consolidated Export Screening List and individual screening lists of the Departments of Commerce, State and the Treasury to ascertain companies and individuals subject to export restrictions
- Understanding the basic elements of an Export Control Compliance Program
