Webinar: Climate Change Disclosure Obligations: New Risks, New Opportunities

March 23, 2010

2:00 - 3:30 PM

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has recently taken action that may present publicly held companies with increased disclosure obligations and climate-related shareholder proposals.  Given the increased carbon regulatory initiatives, judicial proceedings, and policy efforts related to the climate, corporations are well advised to stay informed of the rapidly evolving area of climate risk disclosure obligations.

Topics to be discussed:
Recent interpretive guidance issued by the SEC regarding climate risk disclosures that may affect publicly held companies’ Form 10-K reporting requirements for 2009; discuss Staff Legal Bulletin No. 14E, which may add new shareholder voting and disclosure requirements; and analyze climate risk disclosure activity at the state level.  They also will examine the historical development of SEC shareholder proxy rules, discuss recent climate regulation, and provide examples of how companies are proceeding under the proxy rules.
