What year did you graduate from law school and which law school?
1996, Loyola Law School
What year did you start at MCPS? What practice group were you in and what projects/cases did you particularly enjoy?
2015, corporate group. I ran my own M&A practice within the investment advisor space and there were several transactions that I enjoyed, most notably the one for Cresset Asset Management and its acquisition of an equity interest in True Capital Management.
Did you come to MCPS directly from law school? If not, where did you go first and what did you do there?
No, I came over with the group from KFTR.
Describe a challenging/exciting/significant experience that you had while at MCPS.
Challenging – changing perceptions of my capabilities. Significant – learning how to cultivate clients and building a specialty practice within the financial services industry space.
What is your fondest memory of your time at MCPS?
Laughing with my friends
If you could have dinner with one person you know from your Miller Canfield days, who would that be and why?
Steve Rotunno of course! Because he is a great guy who is a friend and who I consider to be a mentor in many ways. I would also like to have dinner with Manny Placencia, Barry Kaltenbach, and Justyna Regan as well.
When did you leave Miller Canfield and where did you go?
April 2020 (beginning of the pandemic) and I went in-house with a client.
Where do you work now?
Cresset Asset Management, an investment management firm.
How would you describe your work day?
Busy, intellectually challenging, and interesting
What is the most interesting/challenging part of your job?
Being involved in the business side as opposed to just legal.
What do you miss most about your routine at MCPS that you don’t experience at your current job? Or, alternatively, how is your life/workday/routine different from your time at MCPS?
Well, I have been fully remote since starting at Cresset. I miss the activity and camaraderie of an office; I miss poking my head into someone’s office for a quick question or to bounce an idea off of him/her; I miss my MCPS friends. I have, however, become remarkably efficient working from home.
Would you mind telling us about your personal life (spouse, children, travels, hobbies, etc.)?
We have all been stuck in the house and have only traveled to my sister’s place in Michigan for weekends and to get away. We are all ready to get out. However, my dogs have become very attached and will likely have PTSD when I go back to the office.
